Mary Devore
Mary started practicing yoga as a child with her mother in the 1970s. She was also a competitive gymnast and dancer until she was 22 years of age. She dabbled in many sports as well as in formal education. She has a B.A. in Psychology and an M. S. in Biology. Always looking to learn something new, she has taken many courses and earned many certificates in fitness and wellness. Besides practicing yoga and pilates, Mary enjoys climbing, hiking, skiing, and training in the Sierra.
Iyengar Yoga
Mary is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (Senior Teacher~Level 3). Mary took her Iyengar yoga teacher's training with Kofi Busia and with Cathy Rogers Evans, both Senior Iyengar Yoga teachers. She has also studied with the Iyengar family (Guruji, Geetaji, and Prashantji) in India and continues to study with Senior Iyengar teachers. Currently Mary continues her studies with Gitte Bechsgaard via the Vidya Institute where she studies Yoga Philosophy in integration with BKS Iyengar's Yoga, Mantra Sadhana, Tantric Scripture, Jyotish, & Vedic Astrology.
She enjoys teaching everyone yoga, so that we may become firm in our body, steady in our mind, and have a delighted spirit.

Mary teaches private sessions, limited group classes in person, as well as online classes/ workshops for the Iyengar Yoga Institute of Los Angeles.
Stott Pilates
Mary is a fully Certified Stott Pilates Teacher and an Athletic Conditioning Specialist. Mary did her Stott Pilates training at the John Garey Fitness and Pilates Training Program in Long Beach, CA. This training program encompassed mat, reformer, Cadillac, chair, barrels, and work with injuries & special populations at all levels (essential, intermediate, and advanced). She enjoys sharing her understanding of the body, breath, and mind connection through the teaching of pilates exercises with her clients. Group Classes and private sessions are available.
Yoga & Pilates for Life
Mary believes that by practicing yoga and pilates one can keep the body and mind supple for life. Incorporating these practices in your everyday life has a great impact on not only your current self but on your future self. It is so important to keep yourself mobile, flexible, strong, and stable. This base will let you enjoy all the other things you love to do here in the Sierra: biking, hiking, climbing, skiing, lifting, training, etc.
